HOW TO CREATE A PERSISTENTLY POSITIVE FOCUS
It's not that hard to create a positive focus. What is hard is to do it consistently and persistently.
Fortunately, there are lots of different ways to shift your focus in a positive direction.
Here is a list of ten things you can do to create and maintain a positive focus.
1. Use the power of repetition to create an army of automatic positive thoughts. Those thoughts will rush to your rescue whenever the battle of focus starts to rage. Repeat the following thoughts until your mind starts repeating them back to you.
"I become what I think about all day long."
"What I think about changes who I am."
"When I think about positive things, I become a positive person."
"Improvement is only a thought away."
The instant I think positive thoughts is the exact moment my life improves.
2. Use the power of memorization to fill your memory banks with positive things. Memorize the following positive affirmation.
"God loves and accepts me the way I am, but He loves me too much to let me stay that way. God loves me from the top of my head to the tip of my toes, and it doesn't get any better than that. There is no limit to how good my life can become when I open my heart and mind to the power of God's love. For as long as I live, I will max out on God's love."
3. Use the power of positive neuroassociations to instantly create a positive state of mind. Link a simple gesture of your arms to a positive thought, and whenever you put your arms in that position, the positive thought will automatically pop into your mind.
Create a positive neuroassociation by simply folding your arms across your chest while you repeat the following affirmation, "There is no limit to how good my life can become."
Repeat this process at least twenty times or until the physical gesture is securely linked to the positive thought. If you create and maintain this neuroassociation, you will be able to instantly create a positive state of mind whenever you want. Neuroassociations are easy to create, and they work. There's no easier way to instantly push your mind in a positive direction.
4. Use the power of positive writing to force your focus in a positive direction.
Copy positive passages from your favorite books. Every positive paragraph you write pushes your mind in a positive direction. If you write a positive book, you will spend thousands of hours thinking and writing about positive things.
5. Use the power of positive music to focus on positive things.
Music is a massive neuroassociation that links sounds to mental states. Take your favorite music and link it with positive experiences you have had in the past. Then, whenever you replay the music, you will relive the positive experience by seeing it on the motion picture screen of your mind.
6. Use the power of positive self-talk to push your inner voice in a positive direction.
You have a lot of things to discuss with your mind, and what you say needs to be positive. My book, Maximum Strength Positive Thinking, is full of positive self-talk and is a great resource you can use to fill your mind with positive things. Repeat the following positive self-talk.
"If I want to change who I am, I must change the collection of thoughts that defines what it means to be me."
"When I struggle with negative and limiting thoughts, I need to remember that a positive focus always transforms my life in a positive direction. There is no reason to surrender to fear or despair. What I think about will expand at every age and stage of life. Even if I am one-hundred years old, the power of positive focus will still bring good things into my life."
7. Repeat positive affirmations to silence the inner skeptic and change the way you think and feel. Repeat the following affirmations.
"No event is so negative that I can't make something good come out of it."
"Affirmations do more than change the way I think. They also change the way I feel."
"Each day I jump into God's ocean of love and have a life changing experience. There is no limit to how good my life can become when I open my heart and mind to the power of God's love."
8. Count your blessings so they can expand into your mind.
Each day take out your paper and pencil and list twenty blessings on a sheet of paper. You must count your blessings or you will forget they are there.
9. Turn on the positive mind pump and listen to positive recordings that inspire you to live your dreams. Spend a few hours listening to speeches by Zig Ziglar, and it won't be long before you are flying like an eagle. 10. Focus your mind on the most powerful and most positive force in the universe, God's love.
This is only a short list of things you can do to create and maintain a positive focus.
